2024 EXCELLENCE IN TRANSPORTATION Awards - Nominations and Applications
Beginning January 1, 2024, the Great Lakes District will accept nominations and applications for the following awards which will be presented at the Annual Meeting to be held June 12 – 14, 2024 in Green Bay, Wisconsin:

Student Scholarships
2023 Scholarship Winners
For the $2,000 James A. Bixby Memorial Scholarship, we selected Rabin Subedi from the University of Toledo, and for the $1,000 Ohio Section Scholarship, we selected Jared Day from Cleveland State University. Congratulations to these outstanding students!
Member Awards
Young Engineer Award
The Young Engineer Award recognizes an individual under the age of 35 who has made and is making contributions to the transportation engineering profession, the Ohio Section, the Institute, and one’s community. Factors taken into consideration include Section and International ITE membership and committee activity, positions and offices held, professional accomplishments, community involvement, and demonstrated leadership in one’s profession, ITE, and the community.
The 2023 Young Engineer Award Winner is Erica Toussant, Traffic Engineer for WSP. Erica is the Program Committee Chair for the Ohio Section and will be joining the Board as Director in 2024. She is a graduate of Ohio University with bachelor’s and master’s degrees, having spent over 7 years at WSP.

President’s Award
The President’s Award recognizes sustained contribution to the transportation engineering profession, the Ohio Section, the Institute, and one’s community. Factors taken into consideration include Section and International ITE membership and committee activity, positions and offices held, professional accomplishments, community involvement, and demonstrated leadership in one’s profession, ITE, and the community. The recipient of this award must be a member of the Institute as well as the Ohio Section.
The 2023 President's Award Winner is Neal Underwood. Neal is a Project Manager at Carpenter Marty Transportation. He’s been with CMT for nearly 10 years after spending his first 8+ years at ms consultants. Neal currently serves as Ohio’s District Rep to the Great Lakes District, was on the Ohio Section Board from 2016-2021, including Ohio Section President in 2020. Thanks to Neal for his continued involvement with the ITE Community!
